We have a brand-new opportunity available for an Exploitation & Serious Violence Lead to join our fantastic Community Safety & Enforcement Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Exploitation & Serious Violence Lead, you will be the subject matter expert on exploitation across the borough, playing a pivotal role to the council's objectives in safeguarding residents and providing advice and guidance to social care and other agencies across the area.

Protecting and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults from exploitation and harm requires partnership working. Your role will be central to ensuring partners are working together and listening to the needs of our residents, so we are the best informed that we can be, to prevent issues from escalating.

Key Responsibilities

  • The ability to use data and intelligence insights to develop a partnership approach, to safeguarding Children and Adults at risk of exploitation or serious violence.
  • To develop best practice prevention and early intervention across a broad complex local partnership landscape.
  • To support, co-ordinate, drive forward and deliver the work of the Wokingham Serious Violence and Exploitation Board.
  • To support and advise Adults and Childrens Social Care Practitioners to help develop policy and intervention pathways to reduce escalation of risk.
  • To develop practical early intervention and prevention programmes that bring together best practice and local needs.

Candidate requirements

  • Experienced Safeguarding practitioner, with evidence of CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
  • Demonstratable knowledge & experience of the wider strategic & operational framework and context of Criminal Justice, Community Safety & Public Health of the Serious Violence & Exploitation agenda.
  • Experience & expertise of developing systems and policies in a complex partnership landscape.
