QSW - Childrens - Social Worker - Safeguarding & Support Pod

We are seeking Social Workers to hold a caseload of children and young people subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans and possibly some subject to care proceedings.
About the role:
As a social worker, you will be part of a team led by an Assistant Team Manager and supervised by the Team Manager. Your main tasks will include:

  • Managing a caseload of children and young people.
  • Completing assessments, direct work, and interventions with the children and their families.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, taking into account their race, culture, religion, and linguistic background.
  • Carrying out social work responsibilities for the children and young people assigned to you, including assessing their safety or wellbeing, and deciding the best course of action.
  • Providing clear written reports for various purposes, ensuring good quality analysis and risk assessment. You will also prepare high-quality reports and case notes for court proceedings.

Your work will be guided by various laws and policies, and you will consistently maintain the highest level of professional standards. You will also ensure that the child's voice and progress of plans are effectively recorded in case notes.
About you:
As a Social Worker for AfC, you should be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. We are looking for someone like you who can work flexibly, has excellent communication skills, and can work collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes. It's a genuine team effort in AfC. To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate:
  • Your ability to use evidence and professional judgement to make decisions and determine the risk of future harm.
  • Your excellent written skills and experience writing comprehensive reports for the Courts.
  • A full understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Social Worker in the lives of the children and families you will work with.

In addition, we expect all social workers to have:
  • A full and valid driving license and access to own transport.
  • A professional social work qualification, CQSW or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or other relevant qualification recognised by Social Work England.
  • An active Social Work England registration.
